XASTHUR

Release Year: 2006
Artist Origin: USA
Style: obscure oppressing depressive black metal

this evocative mini album by legendary one-man black metal cult features only three compositions, but its impact is bigger than first thought - shorter length of oppressive Xasthur music sounds more effective and appetizing, its depressing vibe more poignant, and twisted dissonant lines more gripping, capturing the essence of Malefic's dark vision, delivering an intense experience through its atmospheric and brooding soundscapes, enriched by haunting ambient elements and tortured vocals; production values are admittedly raw and underground, transmitting soul-terrorizing endeavors, characteristically ruinous ruminations in full effect with according visual presentation in the booklet as well, perfect for those seeking an unfiltered journey into darkness; US import
