Voïvod are far from resigning from their mission to nail loud and heavy, yet experimental and theatrical, but first and foremost - futuristic and progressive metal, and these eight rapid tunes are perhaps the closest they have got to that authentic vibe familiar from their glorious eighties' albums; once again a concept story is delivered with disasters, chaos, conflicts, strange plots and alternate consciousness involved, while music is surprisingly catchy even for an untrained ear; a special credit must be given to current guitarist Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain, while focus on details is almost insane, providing a consistent, effective flow of phenomenal music that deserves much praise, where not a single note is accidental, yet it sounds organic and much alive, as if this creation itself had evolved into an intellectual, breathing organism
