TAAKE / HELHEIM

Release Year: 2021
Artist Origin: NOR
Style: powerful sharp grim black metal

three decades already each of both kult bands from Bergen, involved on this split, develops highly authentic direction, hardly comparable to any other artists, and finally they go for a common special and symbolic recording, title of which pays respect to each other, as well as to Norwegian identity in general - musical part of it is quite diverse though, as Hoest throws two still unheard, unusually ceremonial numbers up his sleeve, at the same time bashing in typically relentless way, while Helheim four-piece are represented by two cover songs, one of which belongs to Emperor, another - to Taake, partly stepping away from trademark grim heathen vision, adapting black metal to their standards; exclusive Norwegian white vinyl edition with pro-printed inner sleeve is limited to 333 units
