developed alongside the first EP releases, seminal full-length debut by Finnish power/heavy metal pioneers marks creatively important moment, presenting rougher and angrier sound than on later albums, while neoclassical direction becomes even more pronounced, inseparable from Timo Tolkki’s virtuoso guitar work, where fast, hard-hitting bursts are joined by more atmospheric and dramatic passages, balancing the energy of traditional metal with hints of later refined epic, anthemic style, which is why this opus is regarded as an important artifact that helped shape direction of European power metal, revealing ambition to expand harmonics and arrangements, highlighting early compositional curiosity, and emphasizing the significance of nine tracks as a cornerstone in Stratovarius evolution and genre's history; recent Dutch edition comes with a digitally remastered sound and authentic artwork
