SORCERER

Release Year: 2017
Artist Origin: SWE
Style: hypnotizing epic doom heavy metal

the second recording by reformed veterans continues signature traditional doom metal direction, refining a more consistent musical approach by stepping away from some of the more complex, monumental structures and placing greater emphasis on clearer song forms and more memorable choruses, while firmly maintaining epic scope and more prominently incorporating heavy and power metal elements, which enhance dynamism of these eight compositions, the weight of massive riffs, and melodic sensibility, all while complemented by a fitting, melodic, and uplifting vocal performance, where lyrics revisit maritime, journey, and elemental themes that create a prevailing atmosphere, even though the album is not a cohesive concept work, resulting in a strong release that balances tradition with more energized, modern-leaning sound
