Paradise Lost were the first from the mythical British doom/death metal trinity that started feel a bit less comfortable in ferocious stylistic frames, and with arrival of third studio longplay [1992] the first serious move towards more diverse music [far from the last] was made - it has opened them much wider horizon both commercially and creatively: initial prop for that has come from Nick Holmes who's menacing voice has turned into raspy in-depth singing, and breakneck epic melodies that have since become their trademark, fitting like a glove the bombastic, atmospheric music, while classic heavy metal influence sounds stunning in melancholically painful and gloomy context, reaching the culmination with the final As I Die masterpiece; recent European picture disk edition comes sealed in a stickered PVC cover
