Style: dark atmospheric blackened doom metal

initially Ophthalamia was a bastard child of It [Abruptum], setting the concept and working on most of its songs, but the recordings of this kult debut longplay [1994] have also involved other respectable figures of heyday Swedish scene: Jon Nödtveidt [Dissection] aka Shadow has taken over vocal duties, while Winter [Edge Of Sanity] and Mourning [Pan.Thy.Monium] filled in on drums and bass guitar, while Dan Swanö was responsible for the production - their atmospheric and painful road to darkness was indeed inspired by traditional doom ethics, while shrieking black metal vocals added much more drama and depth, resulting in haunting and immersive descent into desolation, where mournful melodies, crushing riffs and spectral atmospheres unfold like a bleak journey through the deepest corners of the human psyche; recent British edition of classic cult comes with authentic sound and design
