OCTOBER TIDE

Release Year: 2023
Artist Origin: SWE
Style: somber harmonious doom death metal

unlike the kindred Katatonia cohort, Stockholm five-piece upholds bleak and unsettling perspective, deepening the fifth post-reunion full-length even further with dynamic death metal passages, noticeably drifting away from characteristically melancholic atmospheric haze, expanding instead an emotional spectrum with brighter, far more vital strokes set against the gloomy visuals and lyrical themes, and while the signature nineties charm remains clearly audible, this blade-sharpening move functions as a deliberately crafted opposition that heightens the music's sense of drama, allowing these tracks sound sharper, more alive and more tangible, without losing underground aesthetic and cohesive narrative flow
