divided into three chapters with three tracks each, fourth longplay [2003] by legendary French black metal underground act leads the listener down the winding paths of evil towards the brink of suicidal emptiness, exploring themes of spiritual decline, alienation and self-destruction, its bleak climax sounding like a total surrender to meaninglessness; this diseased thematic journey is equally reflected in music, where primitive, filthy blackness relies on abrasive guitar riffs, unbearable atmosphere, monotonous repetition and unstable, despair-laden dynamics, while harsh vocals of Meyhna’ch intensify impression of a sealed-off realm of hostility and psychological decay, with deliberately unpolished sound, restrained arrangement changes and deeply misanthropic mood combined to deliver a repellent yet emotionally powerful manifesto of underground sound; limited French digipak edition comes with twelve page booklet
