infamous Norwegian trio in old times has been active since 1987, featuring the genius drummer Hellhammer [Mayhem], while the music was mainly written by Steinar Johnsen, later shining bright with Arcturus, but vocalist Marius Vold was always an important generator of ideas in Mortem as well - with the only demo cassette in 1989 they have left a significant mark as innovators of Nordic blackened death metal, inspiring both the Arcturus boys and many other adventurous musicians; all of a sudden reforming in 2018 and releasing a menacing debut album the decision was also made to re-record the old good material with modern means, adding along the unpublished Satanas and one painfully familiar Mayhem cover, renamed here into Likferd, while history addicts and die-hard fans will certainly enjoy the authentic demo recording placed on disc two; British double disc edition comes with sixteen page booklet
