special double disk, released as a maxi box with a remastered sound and additional Inside The Material Flesh track, presents the sixth and seventh full-length albums by the Canadian masters of extremity during their creative resurgence: the 2002 record showcases enviable brutality across nine memorable, powerful, and diverse compositions, skillfully weaving touches of traditional heavy metal in, making the music sound like a synthesis of ferocious past, dynamic present, and relentless future, delivered in a spontaneous and impulsive fashion while maintaining a fierce, aggressive edge; meanwhile, the 2004 release is structurally somewhat simpler yet stands out with its massive sound and striking content: its compositions reveal more thrash influence, a hint of black metal, with moments of rhythmic acrobatics and speed, largely driven by the stunning, machine-gun precision of newly joined drummer Martin Maurais, while guest vocals are provided by Peter Tägtgren [Hypocrisy, Pain]
