KAMPFAR

Release Year: 2006
Artist Origin: NOR
Style: mystical epic viking black metal

firmly stepping into the elite of epic black metal with a highly personal approach and convincing contents on the debut longplay, delving deep into nuances of Scandinavian identity, couple of years later historical Norwegian duo comes back with a significant six track sequel [1999], masterfully picking on the similarly poignant and relentless, surgically merciless but admittedly majestic approach, where severely freezing and deeply haunting melodies of Dolk and Thomas impress even more, while the ability to balance dramatic emotions is certainly reaching an art form of its own, making Kampfar an essential highlight of burgeoning scene through the nineties; recent Austrian re-issue comes with two tracks from quite rare Norse EP [1998]
