Style: powerful intense atmospheric black metal
intense atmospheric Scandinavian black metal masterpiece lurks behind the shadows of this genius, powerful and simply breathtaking third longplay [1998] by ever creative Blackheim [Katatonia, Bloodbath]: with the artistic growth he develops far more cinematic, horror movie vibe with much of success - trademark enigmatic music, subtly introducing cello and flute parts, feels like wandering in a dark, abandoned and derelict catacomb, layering sharper contrasts between melody and dissonance, with eerie keyboard textures and increasingly intricate arrangements deepening the sense of unease and theatrical darkness, while all drum parts once again were performed by Dan Swanö [Edge of Sanity]; recent British jewel case re-issue comes with liner notes by Blackheim in the booklet, a remastered sound and Cryztalline Fiendz bonus, earlier available on vinyl version only
