genuine sophomore album [1997] answers all questions remaining about exceptional Swedish horde, completely realizing cold infernal black metal visions - no wonder that they have fallen apart after this recording, as it sounds literally perfect: epic and nihilistic approach fits like a glove to long and intense nature of seven compositions, as it requires time and space to develop main theme and atmosphere of each track to the fullest effect, gradually building tension, highlighting melodic climaxes and giving the riffs even greater weight, preventing any track from losing its menacing ambition or mesmerizing cohesion, with music remaining straightforward and apt to instantly get into these nightmarish visions; recent European re-issue comes with sound remastered by Dan Swanö
