third studio album [1998] by historical Nordic black metal ensemble both starts a new chapter with an ever-rising vocal genius of Simen 'ICS Vortex' Hestnæs [Arcturus, Dimmu Borgir], showing his impressively wide range, as well as crystalizes the boundaries-pushing concept, oriented to nature first and foremost, breaking free from strictly heathen or viking topics, choosing the rules-creating and breaking universe as the main reference point; musically, Norwegians got busy to combine multiple instrumental episodes into eight complex compositions, yet highly progressive direction was still under development by then, so it sounded a bit chaotic - in any case you can recognize their significant music character easily; recent Dutch blue/red splattered clear 180g vinyl edition with UV lacquer on the sleeve and pro-printed lyric insert with authentic design is limited to 500 units
