once again inseparable from the expressive creative vision of mainman, guitarist Øystein G. Brun, fifth album [2001] by northern ensemble features a refreshed line-up, bringing in distinctive vocalist Vintersorg, keyboardist Lars A. Nedland [Solefald], and former Emperor live bassist Tyr, significantly updating their sound and allowing unrestrained progressive metal drive push toward newly discovered heights - this atmospherically rich and expansive record unfolds through dynamic, constantly shifting compositional structures, where acoustic passages, multi-layered arrangements and subtle melodic transitions naturally complement heavier, more energetic sections, while new frontman becomes one of the most striking highlights, standing out with wide-ranging clean vocals, clear articulation and somewhat folk-tinged tone, lending the music a sense of grandeur and spaciousness; recent Dutch super jewel box edition with authentic design is limited to 500 units only
