AMON AMARTH

Release Year: 2016
Artist Origin: SWE
Style: powerful expressive viking death metal

monumental second longplay [1999] of the most famous viking-themed Swedish death metal band was actually the first that started honouring the ancestors and their deeds: powerful and bombastic music sounds profound, epic and intense, mixing lightning-fast rhythms and noisy guitar textures with deep growling grooves, which here become almost hymn-like narratives, monumentally illustrating ferocious fighting spirit, while tempo changes are used to achieve even greater emotional weight; last but not least, new guitarist Johan Söderberg is presented for the first time with the band, since then turned into one of the main pillars of this supergroup, whose riffs and melodic choices made a significant contribution while shaping more refined, recognizable direction; European black 180g vinyl edition comes with a remastered sound, pro-printed lyric insert, two-sided poster, and Thor Arise bonus from the very first, unreleased 1993's demo
