third full-length by notorious master of crab walk evolves via intricate, expansive compositions that move beyond the raw, singular aggression of earlier works, weaving eerie harmonies into crushing riffs and balancing intense, pummeling energy with nuanced atmospheric shifts - the guitar work is multifaceted, showcasing a dark sensibility that builds on extreme foundations laid previously, while the drumming takes on a more unpredictable, complex rhythmic structure, adding further depth, where production is both immersive and sharp, capturing the tension and release of each moment without losing essential ferocity of the genre, reflecting a more mature and experimental approach to songwriting, marking a striking evolution of Abbath’s sound that still carries the unmistakable darkness defining his legacy, where Trapped Under Ice cover comes as another surprise tribute to all things metal
