VINTERLAND

Release Year: 2022
Artist Origin: SWE
Style: harmonious infernal atmospheric black metal

three-piece from southern Sweden, guaranteed to be unfamiliar to many, made its mark during the classic era with this sole full-length recording [1996], and although Dissection influence is particularly evident, Vinterland managed to expand the magical formula in colder, more epic and melancholic direction, where lightning-fast tremolo riffs, furious drums and uplifting guitar harmonies are repeatedly replaced by calmer acoustic and keyboard passages, lending the music breathtaking scope and diversity, while romanticized visions of winter, death, solitude and despair further intensify its spellbinding aura, allowing nine-composition cycle to unfold like a seamless journey through a frozen landscape, where aggression and fragility coexist, while its poetic atmosphere becomes not a mere embellishment but an inseparable part of this cult statement; recent limited Swedish purple vinyl edition comes with sound remastered by Dan Swanö and pro-printed double-sided insert
