the ambitious four-piece from small but highly important for black metal movement town Sarpsborg was started in 1994, definitely inspired by grand events happening real close to them, and plunged totally into bludgeoning, still very fresh and perspective genre - they were very fast learners, lucky to have Metalion around the block, whose label was rapidly gaining momentum, so with two demos under their collective belt the deal was signed for a thunderous debut full-length [1995], which has turned out real impressive, regardless of incredibly predictable character of music; it must be stated that Nattferd was, is and will be a perfect specimen of Norwegian sound of the nineties, even if some bands have managed to develop more personal visions of grim music - Ragnarok have decent harmonies, captivating atmosphere and right feeling to deserve their rightful spot among the greats!; long time out of print, recent Norwegian edition comes with authentic design
