less frequently than in their youth, yet still with precision and charisma - this is how the newer albums of death metal patriarchs can be assessed, and this latest effort preserves classic, bone-gripping, graveyard-evoking character, demonstrating how wisely the Americans integrate mature expression, massive down-tuned riffs and driving rhythm into a contemporary context, where crushing, tearing structures are enriched by more intricate guitar lines, while John’s deep, unmistakable vocal performance adds a full measure of dark atmosphere, culminating in a coherent and unified opus that not only honors their rich discography, but also reminds us that old school direction continues to find its place among modern currents of heavy-weighted music; American gatefold sleeve orange vinyl edition is limited to 10709 units
