it has been in family's blood it seems - brothers and cousins Backelin have been nailing the christian coffins down since 1992, and before their highly praised debut full-length they had two demo recordings - The Art of Dying [1993] and Into The Frozen Shadows [1994] that both were very limited in quantity, so it is a brilliant opportunity for all supporters of Scandinavian infernality to witness them compiled now on a compact disc, reflecting upon the lunatic beginnings: seven cuts of first recording reveal a rawer, more death metal-oriented beast, packed with primitive aggression, morbid riffing and blasphemous fury, while five tracks of the follow-up demo already sharpen their black metal identity, introducing darker harmonies, colder atmosphere and even early keyboard touches, thus documenting a fascinating transition from crushing extremity towards the sinister, melodic blackness that would soon define Lord Belial; recent limited Dutch edition comes with a remastered sound, new cover artwork and design
