LIEGE LORD

Release Year: 2022
Artist Origin: USA
Style: striking dynamic heavy speed metal

following the successful full-length debut, Connecticut quintet confidently continues its dark, fantasy-infused brand of fast-paced power metal on the sophomore 1987's longplay, sounding considerably sharper and more assured, with melody of traditional metal reinforced by the drive of speed metal and the aggression of thrash; the arrival of talented guitarist Paul Nelson proves to be a pivotal change, as his piercing solos and virtuosic riffs bring greater variety to composing, while tracks such as Transgressor, Cast Out, and Black Lit Knights showcase their ability to combine memorable harmonies with intense, technically accomplished musicianship, further bolstered by energetic rhythm section, while Andy Michaud's high-pitched vocals remain a distinctive and divisive feature of the sound, with richer, clearer production helping this no-frills, hard-hitting record pave the way toward more ambitious and technically mature songwriting; German 35th anniversary gatefold sleeve red and white marbled orange vinyl edition with sound remastered by Patrick W. Engel, pro-printed lyric insert and additional double-sided poster is limited to 500 units
