significant sophomore chapter in the creative vision of Monaco's one-man force Duke Satanaël continues atmospheric black metal tradition established by early demos, yet here the influence of Scandinavian acts takes on an even more evident shape steeped in medieval mysticism, where merciless guitar riffs, driving rhythms and gloomy, ritualistic harmonies evoke the grandeur and downfall of an ancient world; conceptual five track mini album [1996] explores the eternal struggle between good and evil, drawing the listener into a symbolic journey along the paths of bygone ages, where religious imagery, pagan worldviews and rebellious hostility towards christian order merge into a bleak tale of spiritual rebirth, while the dramatic sound highlights Godkiller's ability to forge a majestic, mystical and uncompromising black metal vision; recent British black vinyl edition
