not so many extreme metal supporters still remember this distinctive Finnish outfit that dominated the mid nineties with an exceptionally intense yet highly atmospheric form of black metal strongly supported by keyboards, handled from the very beginning by Tuomas Holopainen, who launched here his musical career before Nightwish - DMB resurrection in 2020 came as a pleasant surprise, just like the return of cult early line-up and musical identity, seemingly untouched by the passage of time, and since the tone set by debut album is reproduced with remarkable accuracy on new tracks, there is little reason for complaint: expressive yet heavy and powerful production enhances deeply dramatic and highly intense black metal sound charged with strong emotion and old school spirit, further reinforced by lyrics rooted in historical themes of Great Northern War of eighteenth century; Austrian digipak edition
