OVERVIEW:

Have you heard recently about any new Lithuanian metal band that would make a certain stir? No?! that's a shame. Indeed it was those earlier established groups that planted evil seeds years ago, who still take care about their plants, and who are the reason the world would keep up an interest of Baltic metal, but finally the time has come to reap the first new harvest. Kids grow fast - as they say - and that's why with this split release Ledo Takas presents two young bands of the ever rising new generation of Lithuanian black metal scene at once. Undisputedly the two most promising hordes have all qualities you would ever expect from the rough, ambitious, but nonetheless focused black metal lunacy. LUCTUS breathe with old traditional spirit and ignites a real hell on earth with their energetic take-no-prisoners fury. ARGHARUS answer with a deep ritualistic intensity, processing it straight into abyssic damnation. No fake grimness, no rock star attitudes, just focused, intrinsic, empathized assault.
Thus, the sky has been smeared with burning sounds of blasphemy.

CD comes within a 16 paged booklet jewel case package with an extra slipcase, whilst later to be executed 12” vinyl edition will bare a precise gatefold sleeve with a different layout.

NOT TO FORGET:

- split album of two the most promising hordes of new Lithuanian black metal breed.
- recorded in Phoenix Studio, Latvia [Argharus], and The Lair Studio, Italy [Luctus].
- state of art booklet/slipcase design by Svetimas Veidas.
- poignant interest in both bands since they ever emerged from their vaults
- ecstatic aura around their rare but effective live performances

Luctus has been established in 2001 by Simonas aka "Luctus", young and ambitious Lithuanian, who spent a bigger part of his life in Rome, Italy, but has never abandoned his national roots and put much of his identity into music. Still, the music shall be described as black metal - fast, relentless and aggressive, sporting forth the fuming side of his personality. Rooted in old school riffs and structure, it also bears a certain death and thrash metal influences, not abandoning the melodious side of things in right portions. Lyrically, Simonas covers as diverse characters as war, patriotism, nowadays' decadence, as well as “the dying paganism”, to speak his own words. Starting from literally amateur recordings, our man has later learned to put up things in much more clever and professional way, so both My Sorrow In The Lifeless Landscapes [2002] and The Dawn Ov The Eclipsed Desperation [2003] demos have basically nothing to do with his current offerings. It was Ad Arma! mini album [2004, still self-released] that started to make a name for Luctus as a tad welcome addition to Lithuanian [black] metal scene. The style has changed, adding more aggression and power than ever before. For the first time drums were handled by a real drummer, found in Italy. Ad Arma! received warm reviews all over the underground, and at the same time Luctus managed to find session members for live performances, both in Italy and Lithuania.

New material was recorded in March 2006 in The Lair studio, striking with patriotic, violent, bursting hate. It was not until late 2006 though, until it was decided to use new recordings for the split album with Argharus, entitled Sonitus Caeli Ardentis that finally sees the light of the day via Ledo Takas Records, being the first official label supported release of Luctus. A new live line-up is confirmed to consist of solely Lithuanian musicians, and next gig attacks are soon to be put into action.

The start of Argharus was as late as 2004 go, however the ideas, thoughts, and personal sound have been circling in four diabolical heads around for quite some time, whilst their musical skills have been kept polished in other projects or simply in a dead numb loneliness. Everything was moving towards one - the black metal direction, still seeking for an own style, principles and innovative ideas. It was not until 2006 though, that they went public, spending two prior years writing starter material. The choice was right, and the start was more than effective within a petite Lithuanian metal milieu. Before, during and after the Tvaikas III festival in March 2006, were Argharus initially presented their music to the public, they were the talk of the days, weeks or even months.
Argharus profile is framed with misanthropic, nihilistic, blasphemous mood that is a direct depiction of their true nature. Music is a way of life, as much as a form of resistance - to mock, destroy, and kill… They claim to deemphasize the cult of life, to deny the canons of western moral, and to represent the evil side of man.
Few more Argharus performances followed in Kilkim Žaibu festival [2006] and Burning Steel festival [2007], though live shows are not the most important thing for the band. Their first recording was accomplished in world acclaimed Phoenix studio in Latvia, ending up the first phase of the band's existence. After some offers from underground black metal labels, Argharus decided to go on with Ledo Takas Records, presenting their start on a split album with Luctus.
