LEDO TAKAS RECORDS story

The origins of Ledo Takas Records reach as far as 1994 counts. Being involved in D.I.Y. type of fanzine, namely Brainstorm, from mid 1992, Tadas Kazlauskas has constantly been developing his underground activities, first of all improving with mentioned zine's qualities, and then arriving to a point of a small distribution service that was started in late 1994. The first idea of Ledo Tako Produktai [that was initial name of the newborn label] came into sight in the fall of 1996, when few guys decided that it was time to make the world learn about several dedicated Lithuanian Black Metal projects. As it usually happens, first blueprints were quite noticeable, and the start was remarkably impressive: in the last days of 1996 first three tape releases were unleashed:
NAHASH Nocticula Hecate demo'94 re-release
VALEFAR Frigus Ex Tenebris Venit demo'95 re-release
NAHASH Wellone Aeternitas tape version of album'96.

Unfortunately, weak promotion and too little knowledge has resulted into pretty difficult way to the stereos of potential fans, and the actual distribution of these three tapes was also the long development of Ledo Takas. Due to these and numerous other reasons label side had to take a break after that, in order to prepare for the second, much more reasonable strike years after… Tadas had no idea how long that hiatus should take place, yet he was as usually busy all these years with mailorder and magazine, later renamed into
Ledo Takas either…

In spite of difficulties, both demo re-releases sold over 430 copies each, and
Nahash tape-album has sold over 570 copies thus far.

The right moment to reanimate the label occurred in mid 1999, when Tadas got enthused about supporting vinyl releases, and got fascinated by the live performances of one more Lithuanian Black Metal band -
Dissimulation. Both parties agreed upon the 7"EP release, but to keep local (and not only) fans satisfied the tape version of the new extend was conceived. After many efforts and conquering the countless troubles DISSIMULATION Miglose… 7"EP/tape was out on 2nd February 2000. At the same time label was renamed into Ledo Takas Records, mainly with the aim to state that vinyl records from now on are the top priority of the label. This release has started the new label series, named Funeral Violet Vinyl Series, which will embody a number of 7"EP records, pressed on violet vinyl and certainly limited to 666 copies each…

After much effort to spread the new release and name in general, almost two years later, in the end of 2001 next serious releases were spewed forth… and the death train has moved…
